In the early times there existed a town where boys used to play baseball and street football in the railroad tracks. And while the other cities prosper with the arrival of new faces of businessmen and entrepreneurs, Norcross kept quiet and nothing new was noted.

This was until after a business man named J.J. Thrasher purchased about 200 acres around the first stop north along the proposed railway track. Thrasher named the town after his best friend and colleague Jonathan Norcross who later became the mayor of Atlanta. From then Norcross has grown to be well known city.

Norcross is located in Gwinnett County, Georgia, United States. It is a fifteen minute drive North East of Atlanta. It’s geographically located at 330 56 ’N 840 13’ W. Norcross covers a total area of 4.1 square mile with an elevation of 319m.

Population

The population of Norcross as per 2010 census report is estimated at 16,349. Majority of the population is white with Asians, Africans Americans, Latin Americans and Europeans make up the rest. As a governmental centre, Norcross subsequently attracted a stream of migrants from rural areas that made it one of the largest cities in Georgia.

Accessibility

Apart from the rail that passes through the city, Norcross is easily accessible through roads and highways like Buford highway.
